bpost Surcharges 2026

bpost applies surcharges for certain services, such as additional options or oversized parcels. QLS has compiled all surcharges on this page for you, so there are no unexpected surprises.

The prices for additional services, such as insured shipping or signature-required delivery, can be found on the pricing page of your account in my.QLS.

If you have any questions about the surcharges, please contact your account manager. The surcharges on this page may be adjusted throughout the year whenever bpost makes changes to its surcharge structure.

Please note: Objections regarding surcharges must be submitted to QLS within one month.

 Drop-off & Administration
Surcharges related to drop-off or missing information
Drop-off at bpost Retail Network
For dropping off national and international parcels at a post office, Post Point, or parcel locker. Does not apply to return shipments.		 €0.73
Missing Pre-Announcement File
For domestic parcels (excluding bpack XL) where the pre-announcement file is missing during sorting, or when essential delivery information (e.g., the delivery address) is missing.		 €0.51
Unreadable Shipping Label
If the parcel does not have a barcode label, or if the barcode is unreadable, bpost will apply a barcode itself. The associated costs will be charged to the customer.		 €1.02

Surcharges for oversized, heavy, or non-standard parcels
Manual Handling
For domestic parcels (excluding bpack XL) that cannot be sorted automatically. A parcel will be processed manually if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
  • Weight: more than 20 kg (for the 0–30 kg rate category)
  • Dimensions: one side longer than 100 cm, or the smallest surface area larger than 70 × 60 cm
  • Shape: packaging that prevents horizontal processing of the label (e.g. cylinders) or packaging with protruding shapes
  • Contents: loose contents or contents that may cause damage
This list of criteria is not exhaustive. bpost reserves the right to process parcels manually whenever deemed necessary.

Parcel Exceeding Size or Weight Limits
For domestic parcels (excluding bpack XL) that exceed one of the following limits:
  • Oversized: longest side longer than 1.5 m, or girth (1 × length + 2 × width + 2 × height) greater than 3 meters.
  • Overweight: more than 30 kg.

Density Surcharge
For domestic parcels (excluding parcels where length + width + height is less than 70 cm, and excluding bpack XL) with a density below the threshold of 120 kg/m³, a surcharge of €0.00350 per missing kg/m³ per parcel applies.

Calculation example: A parcel measuring 100 × 100 × 100 cm has a volume of 1 m³. With a weight of 100 kg, the density is 100 kg/m³, which is 20 kg/m³ below the threshold.
Surcharge: 20 × €0.00350 = €0.07.

 Returns & Undeliverable Shipments
Costs related to delivery issues and returns
Return to Sender
For all domestic parcels (excluding bpack XL) that cannot be delivered. Does not apply to parcels returned using a bpack return label. Applicable to:
  • Parcels that cannot be delivered due to incorrect address details
  • Parcels refused by the recipient
  • Parcels not collected by the recipient

 Peak Season Surcharges
Additional costs during busy periods
Year-End Peak Surcharge
For domestic parcels (excluding bpack XL) during the year-end peak season. The peak period starts at 06:00 on the day after the fourth Thursday of November (Black Friday) and ends at 06:00 on 25 December.
For 2025, this period ran from 27 November 2025 (06:00) until 25 December 2025 (06:00).		 €1.00

Objections regarding surcharges must be submitted to QLS within one month.
